Hi, would someone be able to walk me through setting up Coppermine with my Webspace account?

I've attempted to look at the Coppermine docs but I can't grasp the instructions in relation with using 100WebSpace.

If someone could give me a step by step approach I would be very grateful.

It's uploading the files that i'm having the trouble with, as I'm not sure where I am meant to upload them to within the control panel.

Try using this method. - http://forum.100webspace.com/viewtopic.php?t=2276

This is what I use to upload PHP applications with a lot of files. :)

Right, I keep having a go at this, it's about my third effort to set up Coppermine as my website would really benefit from it, and I never actually get anywhere due to a lack of knowledge in what I'm doing.

Please bear with me as you're dealing with a complete beginner here. I'd be extremely grateful if someone would give me a step by step approach.

I have a 100WebSpace account and an FTP program at the ready.

What do I do next?

Normally you just upload them as they are downloaded into your root directory, although this may not be the case with coppermine as i've never tried it.

Did you not get an installation guide that tells you all of this, or maybe at the website there is an online guide ?

I uploaded some files to my webspace account but then didn't have a clue what to do with them.

Is there a certain place they are to be uploaded to?

Each subdomain/domain points to a certain folder that has the same name. This folder is to be found in the www/ directory. So if your subdomain is sub.domain.com then you should upload your files to the folder sub.domain.com (www/sub.domain.com). Once you have uploaded the files open http://sub.domain.com (of course replace sub.domain.com with your actual subdmain/domain) and the installation should run.

Did you really read my last post? You should NOT uplaod the files to the www/ directory, you should upload them to the folder of your subdomain, namely www/sub.domain.com (replace sub.domain.com with your actual subdomain...)

Apologies, I meant to say I've uploaded them to the domain (mydomain.freefronthost.com), just wondering what to do next.

If you could open a trouble ticket I will be glad to assist you, I may need to provide you with concrete settings and the forum is not the right place for this.

Ok I've got to the stage where I'm trying to install Coppermine.

On the installation I am given a page asking me to enter my admin details and all MySQL details (these boxes are filled with the default value <?php echo $HTTP_POST_VARS), I understand what all of this is asking for except the MySQL table prefix, and the ImageMagick.

ImageMagick path is: /usr/bin/
As to the prefix, it doesn't really matter what you ste unless you're going to use teh same database for other applications too. You can set it to cop_ for example ;) from coppermine of course :)

I've added a database to my account, I presume I use the details from this database to set up Coppermine with?

Yes, you use the details from the MySQL Databases section. Note that the database name and the username must be both the same (something like accountusername_dbname).

Just so I know if I'm on the right track, I've uploaded all the files to the webspace, and when I click on install.php, I get this screen....

Should this be happening? [/img]

I understand I am getting this display as maybe the PHP code is not enabled, as it doesn't appear to be executing the script.

How can I resolve this?

Ok, I'm now attempting to run the install script and am getting this message.

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /Coppermine/cpg143/install.php on this server.

The path I entered to run the install.php script was http://maha.freefronthost.com/www/Coppe ... nstall.php

Where have I gone wrong?

Your subdomain maha.freefronthost.com points to the folder maha.freefronthost.com (www/maha.freefronthost.com) so this is where you should uploa dyour files, not directly to the www/ directory!

Ok, solved that, the installation page appears, only problem is, it needs the folder 'sql' to run. I've tried to create the folder but apparently'sql' is an invalid filename.

I've uploaded the files that were in the sql folder, but not the folder itself (as I couldn't upload the folders, just the files in them).

How can I get around this?

Ok I've solved that.

Now trying to install Coppermine, and I can't seem to get the correct MySQL host and ImageMagick path.

Could you give me examples of what to enter at this stage?

Sorry about this barrage of posts..

I've set up the Coppermine gallery so ignore the previous couple, I've now got to the log in stage though and I'm getting this error.

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'bridge/coppermine.inc.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/www/maha.freefronthost.com/cpg143/include/init.inc.php on line 234

What does this mean?
