I want to do a site where my members can upload their own music to the site, and then others can listen to it through a player. I haven't seen any plugins for any of the main forum and portal programs, are there any? I haven't decided which system to use for this yet as it will depend on being able to do this. Any ideas anyone?

I was thinking more of a download of the file, idealy using some sort of media player from the site - though I don't know, perhaps this counts as streaming in the end.

I haven't really looked into phpbb that much, I'll investigate that. Are there details on their main site?

Greetings,

You can not have streaming video or audio. What this means is that you can not have music or videos being played on your site. You can have them as downloads but remember only a 500KB download Maximum.

phpBB has information in there MODs database or on there forums about the MOD for this.

Is that across 100webspace, or just the free ones?

So if I was to have a proper account then streaming audio wouldn't be a problem?

Got a link, or a searchable name for this? I've had look on the phpBB mods pages and couldn't see anything.

Greetings,

No I do not. But, heres what you can do. Go to www.phpbbhacks.com. In the little search bar, type and search for things like:
- Photo Hack
- Photo Album
- Music Hack
- Music Album

And things along this line of keywords.

Only thing is though that for the download, there's a way to have things download via a php file from your Gmail account. You'd have to look for another thread on here somewhere where someone wrote about it.

Some points regarding -cipher- and other replys.

For sure, 100webspace.com cant be used to stream audio/video.
But If u build a CM, based on CPG Dragonfly, XOOPS 2.0, or (Censored)Nuke, from the viewer site (user.100webspace.com) and one free FTP hosting server (like our in Bulgaristan), every nation have their own free FTP servers (like Russians - Da.Ru, www.ru and many more)

On one of this free servers, u have to upload all of this audio/video files u plan to stream to the web.

With XOOPS is very easy (in the begining of use 100webspace.com, months ago, I created a test site, based on XOOPS 2.0.7.2, with option to re-translate all Bulgarian/UK Radio streams to the front page - full anonymous access, without loosing of any byte of the bandwith).

U can ask support2 or support4 if he remeber ep2k.freelinuxhost.com with the radio block.

Also XOOPS have best support at the moment for Streaming Audio (Mp3, FLAC) and Video (QuickTime, Real, Microsoft) to the web.

Second option is called Jinzora (check google.com - I dont like it).
Third option is called Mambo + Thosands of integrations (Mambo is the same for me (censored))
Forth option is to created it with (censored) Nuke, Zina for the audio, and a lot of modifications to the core, to integrate Coppermine 1.4 into it.
Last option is Coppermine itself, not recommended for 100webspace.com, cos Coppermine cant use another host for storage.

So streaming is possible, but someone have to write a detailed How to, what and where have to be installed.

So what you're saying is host the main site here and host the audio files on another ftp site. Cheers, I'll look into that one. It also means I won't eat up bandwidth here.

Anyone got any recomendations for free ftp sites?

This depend on your country settings (eg. understand it as laws)
in Bulgaristan we dont have laws, Russians are on the same way - Full anarchy :)

So if u have friends russians or Bulgarians, ask someone of them to register u one account to this free ftp servers.
