Sorry for the n00b question. I've made a basic webpage on macromedia dreamweaver and now want to upload it onto 100webspace.com but im having real difficulties with it. Is this a complicated procedure?

I've gone to site- edit in macromedia and have put in the remote information correctly, or so i hope.

Is the ftp host a bunch of numbers? Thats what i was sent in my welcome email from 100webspace. Number is 9 digits long. Is the host directory the web url you have been given? Mine i believe is http://djruk.webpal.info
When i've put in my username and password.

But it always comes up 'ftp connection error- cannot connect to server' and now its saying incorrect username and password then it can't be since i'm copying and pasting exactly my username and password given in email.

Any help or instructions to uploading from macromedia to 100webspace.

Someone said on another forum i can't use macromedia to upload to 10webspace i need a ftp client. is this true?

Hello, welcome to the forums, I beleive that I can help you with this:

You need to follow these steps to upload your web page:
1. Open Dreamweaver
2. From the Site menu go to Manage Sites (Site > Manage Sites)
3. Click the new button and select FTP & RDS Server from the drop down list
4. Fill in all of the required fields below:

Name: Whatever You Want
FTP Host: webpal.info
Host Directory: /djruk.webpal.info/
(^)If that does not work go into your CP and check your file manager in the WWW folder.
Login: username
Password: password

Click the test button to test connectivity (if successfull continue on)

URL Prefix: http://djruk.webpal.info/

Hope this helps, if you have any questions, just post back here.

Oh yeah almost forgot:

Once you finish and get back to the Manage Sites popup click Done

On the right side expand the Files Toolbar (if it isn't already open) and select the FTP site that you just created

The file list should come up it should be empty

Now open the web page that you created and click File > Save To Remote Server (Make sure that you are saving in the FTP site that you just created)

Hope this helps

NOTE: Do NOT post the 9 digit number that you received in the email - that should be your temporary password and that would not be good if you revealed it on these boards

Another thing that I should note is that you should probably change your Password from the Temporary one sent to you by 100webspace. To do this: go to your e-mail and open the message that you received from 100webspace.

Keep the message open and go to http://webpal.info/

login with the username and password supplied and pnce your in the CP go to account details and Change Password

Then go to FTP manager and reset the FTP password also

Check the port to see if it's 21.

I suggestion you go to FTP Manager, edit your current FTP account password.

The Host Directory needs to be /djruk.webpal.info/

not

www/djruk.webpal.info/

try that, if that doesnt work post back here again

[ANOTHER THING THAT I SHOULD NOTE: Sometimes it takes a while for the host to change the FTP password, try again in a little bit]
