You need to go to the install page FROM your web site, NOT your file manager :D

Greetings,

I assume you were in your control panel, clicked the install/ directory, and then the install.php file right? Well thats incorrect on how to install it.

Go to http://www.yourdomain.com/phpBB2/install/install.php

Replace the "your domain" part to your domain.

Replace the "phpBB2/" part to your phpBB Root path. :D

Hope this helps!

I have a similar problem. I dunno if i've used the right settings.
I created a freesite. stexav.allhyper.com As far as i know the MYSQL Database is up too. stexav_members

I have uploaded PHPBB2 to stexav.allhyper.com
I can access the site using the above URL. and it's just an index list at the moment, which is right as i don't have an index page yet.

But when i go to instal PHPBB2 from it's respective directory. I get the following

phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

Basic Configuration
Default board language: English
Database Type: MySQL 3.
Choose your installation method: Install
Database Configuration
Database Server Hostname / DSN: allhyper.com
Your Database Name: stexav_members
Database Username: stexav
Database Password: *******
Prefix for tables in database: phpbb_
Admin Configuration
Admin Email Address: stephx@bluebottle.com
Domain Name: stexav.allhyper.com
Server Port: 80
Script path: /phpBB2/
Administrator Username: stexav
Administrator Password: *******
Administrator Password [ Confirm ]: *******

The database name, is obviously my username_databasename. is that right, cause that what the site labeled it.

The other thing is where actually is the database.
It's not in my files anywhere.????, but it appears in MySQL management

Greetings,

1. You must create a database by going to your cPanel > MySQL Databases
2. To install your phpBB 2.0.x, go to : http://stexav.allhyper.com/phpBB2/install/install.php ... I just went there and there was no problem.
3. If you want it so that when you go to http://stexav.allhyper.com it goes automatically to the phpBB Root, make a .htaccess file. :D The coding for a .htaccess file is:
Code:
DirectoryIndex whatever_here.php

Hope that can help! :D

Try setting the mysql version to 4 instead of 3
