While testing the maximum mexecution time of a script I noticed that they stop dead with no error warning somewhere between 80 - 110 seconds.

I've tried set_time_limit() and this does nothing to change the timeout.

I've read that Apache may have it's own timeout mechanism. What is going on here and is there anything I can do to change it?

The maximum execution time has been set to 30 seconds on the most of the servers.
