Im using Front page, and I want my home page to have a inlay where the URL it views can be changed by links beside the inlay. heres a more detailed description:

on side of page i have a table of images, each images is a custom link i made for my site, i will refer to this as my nave bar. beside the nav bar i have an inlay. what i want, is to make it so that by clicking a link in my nav bar, it displays the page in the inlay. the whole reason i want this is so my phpBB2 board will also have a nav bar.

Greetings,

Well, what the heck is an inlay? Do you mean you want an iFrame? And about the phpBB nav bar, its not hard to create one, I am a phpBB expert. :D

i totally suck, im new to web design. whats an iFrame? an inlay is when you have a second window inside your page. that window is directed to a URL of your choice, and can load any links you clikc IN the inlay. as for the nav bar, i dont know what u mean by phpBB nav bar. what i just want is my index.php to be the only page on my site you auctually view, and the other pages are triggered on the inlay by clicking links in the nav bar.

Greetings,

Well, what I suggest you do is ... do NOT use iFrames because you are located on a 'Free Hosting Package'. This will cause you to have multiple ads on in you windows. So, what I suggest is, just create the nav bar for each page. :) Unless you are more skilled like others on the forum and can easily code it in PHP and SQL. :D

would it work if i made it so that i had a big black square covering the area where the adds are? i mean only in the inlays, not the main page.

That would be a violation of the TOS and get your website closed. For only a few dollars you could upgrade to a free without banners and that would be a better way to go.

Greetings,

As BOBG has said, that would be a violation of our TOS. Sorry. :(

Each frame or iframe is considered a page, each page on free hosting with banners must have the 100webspace banner displayed.

Then I would suggest you upgrade to the free hosting without banners.

Greetings,

About that navbar for your phpBB. Well, there is a couple of different ways you can do that.

1. You can install the XS Nav Bar MOD.
2. You can create your own using Simple HTML Skills. :D

about that, ive tried making a nav bar, but whenever i try the option is faded out and non usable.

Edit: if i was to make the HTML bar, how would i put it alongside my board?

whats XS Nav Bar MOD? where can i get it, where can i get more info, will it go beside my board?

Edit 2: i forgot to mention, i cant pay for a domain i dont have a credit card, and even if i did, i need to save for University

I think this is what your looking for http://www.phpbbstyles.com/viewtopic.php?t=356

Ya you should be able use forum name for a custom link. Also, you can also try http://mkportal.it if you wish.

You can use paypal and transfer your money from your bank account. It costs only $20 for a domain or you can get a domain from somewhere else.

And you don't have to have a domain for free plan without banners. You can pay $1/month if you wish and use paypal. It will cost you $12/year for that.
