My mysql database is down once again. This seems to happen at least once a week. This is starting to get pretty bad. Has this been happening to most other 100WebSpace users?

Its a nuisance but most of the reasons for the MySQL server being down was because they were upgrading it, which should hopefully mean it should have less downtime in the future. Which is a good thing. :)

I submitted a ticket and got this response:

Hello,

We are currently experiencing some issues on this server regarding the database service. Our administrators are working on solving this problem. Please excuse us for the inconvenience caused to you.

Yeah, happens every few days for me - especially during the hours that people are most likely to be looking at the site.

Wow, this time it has been down pretty long. A few hours. I get all my visitors later at night.

As a matter of interest -which server is this forum on? Whichever one it is - I want to be on it too - how is this forum always up even if all the SQL databases are knacked?

There will be hundreds of thousands of people accessing the public servers, all pulling SQL from databases and carrying out queries etc.. Look at the bottom of the forum, how many people is there online? Big difference. :)

Databases: In-use (2) Available(0)

I've seen that EVERY day for the past week and a half. Sure, it comes back up, but I run three different sets of forums off this thing and it's more than 'inconvenient' at this point.

What the heck is going on?

Bugger that, do shutdowns and updates at night like they should be done!

edit: lol @ the second one. How the hell can I make a backup if I can't access the bloody site?

I would hope they have the servers organized regionally, which would make that point moot.

Yes but they cannot guarantee who is accessing the servers & what country they are from.

Correct, but (in general) someone hosting from a certain region is most likely to have users accessing the site from the same region. Obviously there are exceptions, but it's a majority/minority thing, and the goal should always be to cause the least amount of disruption possible.

Anyway not trying to go too far off topic here, but it seems like a lot of issues have cropped up in the last 2 months and it doesn't seem like any real progress is being made to solve them and not just stick temporary fixes in over and over. I've been using 100webspace for about 2 years already and this is the first period of time where I've had to consider switching just due to the suddenly very poor reliability.

Well think positive, if the upgrading is done now there should be no need to do it in the future. :)
