I am absolutelly satisfied with your GREAT freehosting, your cPanel is absolutelly fantastic. Sometimes I do login just to enjoy this phenomenal peace of work.

So I am a bit concerned to ask you: Do you really support XTHML 1.1 pages? Or is this just some bug/provisional solution ?:(

I supposed that my XTHML 1.0 pages being sent with "text/html" (not recommended but possible) header will not work when i switch to XHTML 1.1, becouse 1.1 needs "application/xhtml+xml" header, which causes Mozilla will -> use newer parser -> check xml validity -> rejects invalid pages - and your banner-ad... mmm.... you know it is "a bit invalid" peace of code inserted whereverYOUwant.

However I find out, that when i send "application/xhtml-xml" header, the banner-ad is missing. Does this mean that you will offer some xhtml-valid banner-ad solution for people like me in the future, or is this just a bug and you will...
delete my accout due to missing ad,
say me forget 1.1 - switch back
or ruin MY work in some other way, like inserting the terrrible ad so my pages will not work?

(Please notice: I DO LOVE the ad - cause it points to YOU, YOU GREAT - but don't like the code behind:)

Please be thruthful but... sensitive.
Ash ;)

Isn't that a bit harsh Ash? I mean, they ARE after all hosting your site for "free" (I'm assuming), allowing you to use all these cool things, ftp, fpe, php, perl, etc...and yet, 1 banner ruins your day. I think there could be worse things.

Ok, sorry, I will use more smileys  next time, if it sounds "harsh".

I wrote it like this just becouse I hope they will answer something like they "will care about standards and give some valid advertisement, know how to do it and will do".

They are hosting so much sites for free, they are really good in the way they do it, they are such excelent coders, so why(?) do they break standards :(
All these sites are invalid... And cannot be validated...

My day is absolutely not ruined, I am enjoying all these goods I got for free (and hope people who have $ - not me :( - will pay their effort).

However i suppose they simply forgot that "application/xhtml-xml" mimetype can (has to) be used for html content. And if they put their "old good ad" into it, they will disable it at all :(

Or are they really good 8) , and is the (may be provisional) omission of banner-ad delibarete? I hope it is so, cause I like them...

Ash (my second name is Happy:)

We will indeed take care of this, another problem has been reported about the banner - it appears in multiple frames. We will take care of both problems, please patient.

FYI: Just small patient testing with Gecko and MSIE
Testing text/html content:

Old HTML style (good old days):
[html] /browser switches to quirks mode/
[head]
... OK :) banner is visible and centered

Usual XHTML style which avoids IEquirks mode:
[doctype] (xhtml10 or 11) /IE uses standards compliance mode,ok/
[html]
[head]
... KO :(
... IE: banner is present, but not visible
... Gecko: banner is visible, but not centered

Gecko correct XHTML style (IE quirks):
[xml declaration] /IE switches to quirks mode - stupid/
[doctype] (xhtml10 or 11)
[html]
[head]
... IE: banner is visible ...but who likes IEquirks?
... Gecko: banner not centered
... semi-OK :?

Testing application/xhtml content: of course banner is not present (and as it is not well-formed, it should not be)

It seems like banner-ad prefers good old days and IE's quirks mode ;)
Good luck.

Hi

Loving the 100webspace free hosting service! If I ever need to upgrade my account (and i suspect one day i will) then i'll definitely be sticking with you guys!

I'm having a similar recurring problem though as I attempt to get my XHTML pages to validate. Some pages are validating just fine, but the XHTML (and CSS) of other pages are not. The problem? This...

<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="http://counter.fateback.com/java.php?.... </noscript>

appearing OUTSIDE of the closing </html> tag.

I appreciate that this stuff has to be on these free pages... but can they always be placed inside the closing tag please. Like I say, it's appearing inside the tag on some pages.. just not others.

Other than that, keep up the great work!

Cheers,
Dud :x :)

(P.S. username is Dudley, same as this).

Following is the banner code that has been cleaned up to at least html 4.01 transitional. It took about 10 minutes to clean up using the site: http://validator.w3.org/
Code:
<!DOCTYPE html public "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
