Hello all,

I have a personal account and a hosted domain. The phpbb 3 board setup went fine but I'm really struggling to setup email for the board.

I've created a new email with password at my domain (info@mydomain.org) which seems to work fine using webmail.

In phpbb 3, I'm trying to use SMPT, the settings I have are -

Enable board-wide e-mails: enabled
E-mail function name: mail (<- this is the php function)
Contact e-mail address: info@mydomain.org
Return e-mail address: info@mydomain.org
Use SMTP server for e-mail: Yes
SMTP server address: mbox.100ws.com
SMTP server port: 25
Authentication method for SMTP: LOGIN
SMTP username: info@mydomain.org
SMTP password: the email password

The error I get when trying to send email from the board is -

Could not connect to smtp host : 13 : Permission denied
<b>[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice</b>: in file <b>/includes/functions_messenger.php</b> on line <b>835</b>: <b>fsockopen(): unable to connect to mbox.100ws.com:25</b><br />

There are the following Authentification options -

PLAIN
LOGIN
CRAM-MD5
DIGEST-MD5
POP-BEFORE-SMTP

I don't know which I should use. I've tried them all with no luck.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or what I should try?

Many thanks.

I will advice you to disable the SMTP send method. That is how your forum will use the php mail() function for sending notifications.

Thanks Victor, disabling SMTP and it seems to work.

Cheers!
