hi!
i've some problems in phpbb installation (i saw phpbb flash tutorial)

i've created a subdomain, and a mysql database (rubbal_forum)

i've copied phpbb files and folders in a directory "forum" under my subdomain
i've changed permissions to config.php file (from 644 to 666).

i've opened from my browser file install.php and i fill the form in this way:

database type : mysql 3.x (i've try also 4.x)
Choose your installation method: install

Database Server Hostname / DSN: localhost
Your Database Name: rubbal_forum
Database Username: rubbal_forum
Database Password: ******
Prefix for tables in database: phpbb_

Admin Configuration

Admin Email Address: ****
Domain Name:
Server Port: 80
Script path: /forum/
Administrator Username:
Administrator Password:
Administrator Password [ Confirm ]:

the error is :

phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

You must change localhost to whatever your server is
---
Also: If you are on a free account, you can not send e-mails using SMTP or PHP's mail(); command.

Already said its a host problem and if you are still getting the message after making sure the host files are set up correctly then check that the host of your SQL is up and has not gone down for maintenance.

Make sure local host is changed to the SQL server E.G. sql.100ws.com.

Make sure that the data base name is both username_database e.g bobtom_fidlesticks and also applys to database username, the password is the original password unless you changed it upon registering the account.
