How would I go about setting up the forum email system when someone replies to a topic, everyone who has posted in that topic would recieve an email?

Doing some testing I found out that members get their registration email, they also get emailed when someone sends them a PM, but not when someone replies to a topic. I did click the radio button to recieve email notification in my user profile, but I don't recieve an email :?

if using phpBB, at the bottom of the post that you want to watch you can click the Watch this post button (or something similar) and it will send you an email any time a new post is posted.

The box "Notify me when a reply is posted" is already checked.

hmm... im that too good with phpBB enogh to tell you why thisdoes this, its not because of a configuration setting because they get emails when they sign up / get new personal messages...... maybe your email provider marks the email as spam? Try checking your spam folder.

I found out that I had to setup smtp, and that fixed the problem. Just curious, what does clicking "yes" to the forum emailer option do?

it turns on SMTP, if it is set to no, then it will attempt to use sendmail();
