Post subject:  XMB Mail Problem

I am using free hosting on mybesthost.com. I have a working install of XMB 1.8, because 1.9 refused to display forums when there were categories present.

My problem is that the mailer does not work. It does not send any messages to me when I send out a newsletter or such. According to my research, it uses the php mail() function. Is this supported? If not, how can I change it to use an external SMTP server?

Greetings,

Free hosting plans can not use the PHP mail() function. This error was discovered by me and free accounts could access and use the PHP mail() function .

But you can go to www.google.com and search for free SMTP servers.

Alright, I found a way to reroute mail through an smtp server, but I am unsure of the settings. The SMTP server I have set is smtp.mybesthost.com (my hosting server), and the SMTP host is localhost. What should my username and password be? I do not have a domain, so I cannot set up an email account in my site control panel. Can I use another email address?

Greetings,

1. SMTP Server: mail.yourservername.com
2. SMTP Host: yourservername.com
3. You must get a domain, so that you can create an email.
4. Username will be your email address
5. Password will be your email password :D

Greetings,

Yes. Go to www.google.com and search. Or ask your ISP if they have a free public one you can access. :D

Greetings,

Just get support from your ISP on this topic. Then go over to XMB support website and get support from them. Thanks!
